This training is designed to give the attendee an experience of the distinctions between directive, exercise-based teaching and mindful movement teaching so the teacher can begin to explore how best to facilitate inside-out change in their clients.
To create real movement change within ourselves and our clients, it is not enough to teach repertoire and exercises. Mindful Movement teaching requires that we create an environment in which our students can experience and become aware of their movement patterns. If a client cannot feel their own movement patterns, they cannot change them.
Authentic and effective mindful movement teaching is not only about understanding the anatomy, biomechanics and correct form of the chosen discipline. It must also be informed by knowledge of what influences human movement and how to incorporate these less tangible elements into each class or session.
Movement teaching in the mind-body space can facilitate beautiful, integrated movement that is healthy and efficient, or it can amplify habitual and inefficient patterns, creating increased dysfunction and possibly injury in our clients.
